SUMMARY
Assists in maintaining School Nutrition refrigeration and kitchen equipment
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
· Well-versed on refrigerants, oils, operating pressures and temperatures.
· Full understanding of refrigeration cycle, including calculation of superheat and sub cooling.
· Firm knowledge of electrical power and control systems.
· Ability to properly diagnose problems and replace components as needed on refrigeration units.
· Full knowledge of gas combustion and control systems.
· Knowledge of kitchen equipment preferable (Mixers, Ovens, Steamers, Dish machines etc.)
· Complete routine and preventative maintenance schedule to manage upkeep and condition of all equipment
· Maintain effective communication and working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and general public.
· Willing to be “ON CALL” after hours.
· Prompt and thorough in completing assignments and required documentation, attends to details accurately and efficiently.
· Observes precautions required for safety when working in potentially dangerous situations, and compliance with the “Clean Air Act”.
· Maintain driving record so as to be eligible to drive a TISD vehicle.
· Must have or be willing to obtain EPA Technician Certification.
· Perform other duties as assigned by Director/Asst. Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic electrical and refrigeration knowledge, familiar with test equipment and tools associated with refrigeration equipment (gauges and electrical).
Knowledge of kitchen equipment preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED
Three years minimum experience in the Refrigeration/Kitchen Equipment field
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Texas drivers license, must meet insurance criteria
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be physically fit, able to lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds, strenuous standing, walking, climbing, and bending.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Tobacco free, working indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures including hot, cold temperature swings and inclement weather. |
