Description

SUMMARY     

 

Helps administer the District’s discipline program in order to provide sound educational and behavioral support for our students. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Serves as the District hearing officer for discipline cases.
  • Provides effective two-way communication with campus administration.
  • Serves as a resource for campus administrators and other staff regarding interpretation of and implementation of the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Confers with Special Education Department regarding discipline of special education students.
  • Responds to parents’ inquiries regarding Board policy, federal and state statutes related to student discipline.
  • Collects disciplinary data and prepares reports and summaries.
  • Audits school disciplinary procedures.
  • Reports problems regarding the District, which require awareness for action, to the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.
  • Assists the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services with special projects regarding discipline procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree and campus administration experience preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing to a variety of audiences including conferences with parents, community service providers, district staff, chairing committee meetings, preparing written student evaluations, preparing written reports regarding program implementation/recommendations, preparing policies and procedures, and conducting staff development activities.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to perform basic math and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.

 

 

REASONING ABILITIES

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
