Description

SUMMARY

 

 Duties include all secretarial skills, must be people-oriented because of dealing with special education teachers, diagnosticians, related service and other staff. Must be willing to be flexible in helping with other duties required of the department. Strong organizational skills are required.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Run reports from the SHARS system to monitor billing status
  • Monitor data entered into SHARS system for accuracy ( enrolled students served through SPED, services documented in ARD, etc.)
  • Monitor transportation logs for non-sped students
  • Assist teachers and other staff with questions related to SHARS billing and input
  • Work collaboratively with SPED PEIMS Specialist regarding reports, data, and billing
  • Assist assessment and speech staff with data entry as needed
  • Assist with maintaining student special education folders, including copying, faxing, filing, and distribution of records as needed
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing mail, both US and in-district
  • Manage and order office supplies
  • General office copying and collating as needed by professional staff
  • Assist other special education secretaries as requested by Supervisor
  • Attend professional development
  • Follow TISD policies and guidelines
  • Performs other tasks as may be assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

High school graduate or equivalent and one year clerical experience.

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

 

Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases, and other documents.  Proficient typing, keyboarding, file maintenance, and 10-key skills.  Ability to meet established deadlines.

 

 

REASONING ABILITIES

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
